This image captures Royal Robbins resting atop the striking 8×16-foot pillar, separated from the main wall by a three-foot chimney. Frost described this moment as one of the most beautiful and meaningful of the ascent.

In his words, the Salathé Wall “felt like the Creator made it just for traditional climbers who would feel the love and fall in love in return.” Frost later reflected that while the NA Wall was the greatest climb he ever completed, the Salathé was the best. This photograph remains one of his favorites for how it expresses the essence of big wall climbing: partnership, presence, and the feeling of being suspended between Earth and Sky.
